The inspiration for this amazing journey is the memory of my grandmother, Aara, and her timeless elegance. One of Granny’s greatest joys was the time that she devoted to reading God’s Word. She was an avid reader of the Bible and took great delight in choosing a scripture to meditate on daily for inspiration and encouragement (This same principle continues to be a blessing for her family and friends today.) She was regal in stature and one of the most dignified creatures on earth, especially in her interactions with others. She was like a queen to me.  Mostly, I remember how well she took care of herself and her skin. Even at the tender age of 105 years, she was a natural beauty. Granny was consistent with her holistic approach to caring for her skin; she was a role model to me. I now seek out natural methods to enhance beauty because of her.

Additionally, I admired my mother for the same reasons that I revered my grandmother as a child. My mother’s beauty and extraordinary eye for detail surpassed my innocent mind. She, too, has an exceptional sense of style and a flawless daily skin care regimen. It is from the direct observation of my mother and grandmother that I developed a true passion for all things related to beauty for women: hair, clothing and skin.

My passion for skincare was also ignited by a desire to treat my own skin condition, atopic eczema. As a child, I was very self-conscious of my dry and flaky skin. I was always using prescribed medications along with creams. I even used Vaseline and other creams my mother had around the house. I knew that there had to be a better way, even as a young teenager. So Aara’s Essentials is my way of honoring the women who were my examples, supporting my own skin health, and sharing what I’ve learned with my wonderful customers.
